Scheduling posts in WordPress

Sometimes you may not want a post to appear in your blog or news section straight away, this is where a handy feature in WordPress called scheduled posts comes in. In this tutorial, I’ll be showing you how to schedule a post to appear on your website at a particular date and time.

OK, so let’s jump right in. First you need a post, so write your blog post and then direct your eyes to the “Publish” box on the right side of the page:

Where is says “Publish immediately”, click the “Edit” link and you should see a new form appear underneath, that looks like this:

Here you can set the date and time you’d like the post to be scheduled for, so in this example, I’ll change it to November 25th at 9AM:

Once you’ve added the date and time, click the “OK” button.

Notice how now it’s changed to “Schedule for:” followed by the date and time, and the “Publish” button has now changed to a “Schedule” button. Once you’ve finished editing your post, click this “Schedule” button and your blog post will publish itself at the date and time you selected, rather than showing on your website immediately.

So that’s how you schedule a post in WordPress, this is a great feature if you like to write a number of blog posts at the same time but want them to go out at different times to ensure that your website is getting updated regularly.
